A consultation of the NSW Curriculum Review will be held at the City Diggers Club on October 16 at 4-6pm.
Professor Geoff Masters, the CEO of the Australian Council for Educational Research is leading the comprehensive review for the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Local teachers, students, parents and the wider community are invited to attend and have their say.
Professor Masters will lead a broad and open conversation with the community to address the following questions:
- What should the purpose of schooling be in the 21st Century?
- What knowledge, skills and attributes should all students develop at school?
- How could the curriculum better support every student’s learning?
- What else needs to change?
“This is a unique opportunity to reflect on what the NSW community now wants from its schools,” he said.
“The review will ensure that the NSW curriculum prepares young people for the future.
“I am looking forward to the consultations as we need a community conversation about how we can better support every student and their learning.
“Everyone is welcome to attend the consultations and have their say. We'd like to hear from teachers, parents and carers, students, employers and the wider community.”
NESA is holding 15 consultations across the state about the review, the first whole curriculum review of its kind since 1989.
