Wollongong crime manager Detective Inspector Brad Ainsworth said a woman was allegedly attacked and forced into her home where she was sexually assaulted after a cab ride to Bellambi St, Tarrawanna.
“It is a particulary vicious incident and we are hoping somebody out in the community recognises this man or alternatively he may recognise himself and if so he should contact Wollongong Detectives,” Insp Ainsworth said.
Police said the woman got into the taxi outside a licensed premises on Pioneer Road, Towradgi about 2.40am last Sunday.
An unknown man entered the taxi and they travelled to Bellambi Street.
The woman called police after the alleged attack.
Police launched an investigation and believe the man in the photos may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being about 170cm tall, of medium build, aged between 30 and 40, with short grey/silver hair. He was last seen wearing a navy blue hooded jumper and dark pants.
Anyone who can identify the man depicted or that has information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.
