Caitlin Sturgess, 29, was one of more than 4000 fans to attend the Here We Go Again concert at the WIN Entertainment Centre – the star’s first ever concert performed in the region.
It has been Cher’s biggest selling tour of Australia, with over 120,000 fans attending her 14 performance dates.
Mrs Sturgess first fell in love with the star after seeing her on talk show Ellen and has literally had Cher songs on repeat every day of her life.
“She wasn't born into fame, she went through really crappy times … I just think she’s a person I admire because she’s never really been in the limelight for the wrong reasons,” Mrs Sturgess said.
“Mum’s a little bit ‘how did that happen’ … as I wasn’t really [brought up] in her era.”
Celebrity drag queen Roxee Horror, aka Adam Larkham, entertained fans wearing a Turn Back Time inspired outfit for pre-show drinks at the Furphy Bar.
While across the road at the Steelers Club Tora, Vanity and Felicity posed for selfies in extravagant costumes inspired by Cher’s performances over the years.
The American singer and actress first rose to fame in 1965 as one-half of the husband and wife folk rock duo Sonny and Cher – I Got You Babe was the song to shoot them to stardom.
The pair divorced in 1975, though Cher was able to establish herself as a solo artist whilst working on television during this time. She had chart-topping hits like Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves; Half-breed; and Dark Lady.
Cher has worked on Broadway musicals and a number of movies including Witches of Eastwick, Mermaids and most recently Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
The superstar has one more show on the tour, at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney this Thursday.
