There’s a nine-night cruise in July next year from Montreal to Detroit aboard Victory Cruise Line’s new vessel, the 202-passenger Victory II, launched in September.
Like its twin sister, Victory I, the intimate 6000-tonne ship is designed for coastal cruising, with all staterooms offering water views.
Passengers also enjoy complimentary free-flowing wine, beer and spirits, a special free cocktail hour before dinner, indulgent high teas on sailing days, complimentary shore excursions, free wifi and a program of lectures by historians and naturalists specialising in the regions visited.
Purposely designed for ‘convivial, cultural cruising’, Victory’s two deluxe ships each boast a sun deck, wrap-around promenade deck, dining room serving fine cuisine, outdoor grill, two lounges and a tavern.
Staterooms feature 100 per cent Egyptian cotton bedding, flat-screen TV, bathrobe and personal cabin service.
Tracing a journey right along the Canada-USA border, the cruise mentioned follows the St Lawrence River and sails across the two vast lakes of Erie and Ontario to take in the French-flavoured Canadian cities of Montreal and also spectacular Quebec City, with its walled ramparts and imposing edifice of Chateau Frontenac, a grand hotel overlooking the cobble-stoned city. Overnight stays are included in both cities to allow extended exploration.
The cruise also visits the multicultural Canadian city of Toronto and spectacular Niagara Falls, with passengers treated to a complimentary boat cruise to the misty base of the famous falls. The final stops are the US heartland cities of Cleveland and Detroit where the cruise ends.
Including all onboard meals, drinks, shore excursions with local guides at every port and shipboard wifi, the nine-night ‘French Canada and the Great Lakes’ cruise is available from about $8175 per person, twin-share, including an early bird saving of some $2800 per couple available until December 15.
Based in Miami, Victory Cruise Lines is a small-ship line with sailings to the Great Lakes, eastern Canada New England, Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and Cuba. The company has two ships — Victory I and Victory II.
