The man, aged 92, was carrying out repairs on top of a two-storey house on Heaslip Street about 6.30pm Thursday when he fell into his backyard.
The Toll Rescue helicopter landed at a sports field off Gladstone Avenue a short time ago.
A doctor from that aircraft is now at the man's side.
The man has a possible fractured leg and is bleeding from his arm, right elbow, knee and nose.
The Mercury understands he will be airlifted to St George Hospital.
