A planned apartment development at North Wollongong that proposes to showcase “world-class contemporary coastal architecture” is now on public exhibition.

Quill Holdings recently lodged a development application with Wollongong City Council for 2 Blacket Street, North Wollongong.
The $5.5 million proposal includes the demolition of an existing single dwelling, and construction of a four-storey residential flat building comprising 16 apartments and two levels of basement parking.
It would be located adjacent to the Novotel; opposite the North Wollongong beachfront, and at the northern gateway to the ‘Blue Mile’ foreshore.
The proposal also incorporates a water-related theme which includes an infinity edge pool at rooftop level, the edge of which will be visible from Cliff Road and the foreshore reserve.
“We wanted to create a world-class development that really responds to how people want to enjoy our coastline,” a Quill Holdings spokesperson said.
The developers say the proposal takes its lead from council’s Blue Mile Master Plan, and the significant capital investment already made on upgrades to the foreshore precinct.
The final link in Wollongong’s Blue Mile was officially opened to the public in June.
The popular shared pathway linking Belmore Basin and North Wollongong Beach was opened three months ahead of schedule.
The Tramway project also came in on budget at $10 million.
The proposal is on exhibition until December 5.
