In its half-yearly financial report, Wollongong Coal (WCL) said it will complete its application to restart mining by January 2019.
The company said it expected to receive approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
“WCL envisages that this work and the consultation with stakeholders through the application process will result in an approval to commence mining operations after mid-2019,” it said. “Coal production will commence following this and ramp up though to the end of 2019.”
The diversion of Bellambi Creek – a condition of mining consent in 2011 – would be included in the new application.
“This process has captured a comprehensive proposal that addresses a number of existing elements such as the Bellambi Creek diversion project and further design and planning modifications to effectively manage such potential environmental impacts as noise, dust, lights and community interactions,” it said.
