Residents will be able to use the schools’ playgrounds, ovals and sports courts from December 22 to January 25, 2019.
Jamberoo, Austinmer, Koonawarra, Mount Brown, Lake Heights and Windang public schools will open their gates to the community from 8am to 6pm during this period.
Dapto and Kanahooka high schools will also open their gates and participate in the NSW Government’s Share Our Space Program.
Parliamentary Secretary for Education Gareth Ward said the program provided valuable opportunities for local children and families to get out and play.
“I’m delighted the NSW Government is thinking outside the box to provide open play areas for our local community, and putting school assets to good use,” Mr Ward said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes added the program had been a great success over the last year and he expected an enthusiastic response from the public this time around.
Participating schools will receive a $5000 grant for opening their facilities to the public.
