The unveiling of the complete makeover of the new-look clubhouse facilities and new brand took place on Thursday .
‘The 19th’ is a designed to add a touch of luxury in new indoor, outdoor bar and lounge areas.
There is a larger range of beverages with a regular rotation of boutique tap and bottled beers as well as a wine list comparable to any leading restaurant.
The major $5.5 million clubhouse upgrade was completed in 5.5 months and comes just five years ago after Wollongong Golf Club completed renovations to the golf course.
The modern new look is designed to complement the tradition of being one of the Australia’s oldest links courses.
Wollongong Golf Club has operated continuously in its original location since 1897.
But general manager Leigh Hingston said people don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy The 19th.
He said there are two distinct areas in the new design and layout.
The ground floor Tap Inn Bar and Lounge offers spacious indoor and outdoor facilities.
The interior bar and lounge area now extends to the pro shop.
Upstairs the Deck Kitchen and Cafe is much larger than was previously the case by bringing the deck inside.
But louvres still create the feeling of being outside in the breeze when they are open.
“We’ve been meticulous in our desire to ensure our facilities at The 19th offer quality fixtures and contemporary furniture,” Mr Hingston said.
“We feel the casual outdoor aspects of The 19th will be popular additions over the summer months. The entertainment facilities, pro shop and locker rooms have also been refreshed.”
“We’re really excited with the potential of The 19th and can’t wait to welcome everyone here.”
