The Mastercraftsman mare showed a glimpse of her potential when she led all the way to claim the Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap (1400m) on the Kensington track on Wednesday.
The performance immediately raised the question of whether Eugene's Pick would head towards the lucrative series, which culminates in a $500,000 final on day two of The Championships.
It provides a massive carrot for trainers, but Price wasn't planning on rushing into the series.
"She obviously showed enough speed but I do personally feel she is going to be better when she gets to a mile plus and even 2000m," he told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
"That is what she is bred to do so we will just let her tell us."
Price's father and co-trainer Robert confirmed to The Illawarra Mercury before Wednesday's run that the Kembla Grange qualifier could be an option for Eugene's Pick if the stable was to target the Championships.
Eugene's Pick wasn't in TAB early markets for thefeature, but has now been made a $26 hope after winning in town.
Jockey Adam Hyeronimus took the mare straight to the front from the wide barrier and showed a strong kick in the straight to hold off Laburnum and Romani Girl.
"She has always shown me a lot of ability and she is starting to put it together on the track," Price said.
