An elderly male pedestrian was airlifted to St George Hospital on Wednesday night after allegedly being hit by a vehicle at Dapto.

According to police, about 8.55pm on Wednesday, a motor vehicle was travelling in an easterly direction on Fowlers Road, Dapto when the driver allegedly struck a male pedestrian.
Police say he was thrown about three metres in the air before landing on the road.
The male driver stopped and provided aid.
Ambulance officials attended and the 76-year-old man was airlifted to St George Hospital, with an apparent significant injury to the back of his skull, fractures to both legs and numerous lacerations.
Lake Illawarra Police District officers also attended the scene.
The driver was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing, and later taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was interviewed.
Police investigations are ongoing.
