Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman has castigated Pauline Hanson for her "appallingly ignorant and extremely hurtful" comments about the Port Arthur massacre.

The One Nation leader has been caught on camera questioning whether the 1996 massacre that left 35 people dead was a government conspiracy.
"With the world still mourning the loss of innocent lives in New Zealand, these extremely insensitive comments only remind us of one of our darkest days, 23 years ago," Mr Hodgman said on Thursday.
"Our thoughts are always with the victims, their loved ones, and all those impacted by the tragic events at Port Arthur who will again be suffering from the re-run of these absurd conspiracy theories."
Senator Hanson is under intense pressure over her Port Arthur remarks, which were released by Al Jazeera as part of an undercover reporting operation.
Two of her most senior officials are also in strife after they were filmed talking about soliciting donations from the US gun lobby, in a bid to empower them to overturn strict Australian firearm laws passed after the deadly mass shooting.
After the damning revelations were aired, Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared the Liberals would preference One Nation below Labor at the May federal election.
Tasmanian federal Labor MPs Julie Collins and Brian Mitchell said the One Nation senator's comments would be heartbreaking for traumatised Port Arthur victims, survivors and first responders.
"Our thoughts are with those who will be hurt by Hanson's grossly ignorant comments," the pair said in a joint statement.
"Labor stands today with everyone who rightly rejects these offensive remarks. Our resolve to never let a tragedy like Port Arthur happen again remains unwavering."
Tasmanian federal independent MP Andrew Wilkie demanded Senator Hanson apologise.
"There is obviously no basis for the fruit-loop conspiracy theory being peddled by Ms Hanson," Mr Wilkie said.
"It simply beggars belief that she believes this nonsense - or worse, doesn't believe it but thinks it's okay to try and capitalise on a tragedy for her political self-interest.
"Frankly it shames our parliament and our country that someone so completely lacking in intelligence, common sense and integrity is a senator."
