The first screening of Back of the Net this weekend is a low key-invite only event to thank all those involved locally for their support. It will include representatives from Destination Wollongong, Wollongong City Council, Novotel, location operators, local businesses as well as some cast and crew and local background actors.
When Steve Jaggi Company produced film is released in Australian cinemas in April the Innovation Campus, Sea Cliff Bridge, Fisherman's Beach, Figtree Junior Soccer Club, Five Islands Secondary College, and Fernwood Wonoona will feature prominently. Back of the Net stars Disney Channel's Sofia Wylie who plays American teenager Cory Bailey whose dream comes true to attend the Harold Science Academy's Semester at Sea in Australia. But when she accidentally boards the wrong bus at the airport and finds herself at the school's soccer academy instead.
With her science ship well and truly sailed and her parents volunteering in a remote region of India, Cory has no option but to stay and complete the semester.
Though unimpressed with being surrounded by "silly" jocks, it's not long before she finds a place with her misfit roommates who make up the 'Worst of the Best' academy recruits.
