Wollongong produced perhaps their most dominant performance of the campaign on Sunday afternoon with an emphatic 4-0 win over Blacktown City at WIN Stadium.
It was the first time since 2010 that Wollongong had beaten City and helped Wilkshire's men maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
The Wolves have amassed six wins and three draws to hold a commanding four point lead at the summit of the competition. Their massive 22-goal haul through the opening nine rounds is just one off their total for the entire 2018 season.
Englishman Thomas James has played a huge role in that success as he leads the league with 12 goals in his debut campaign at the club.
It has put him and several of his Wolves teammates firmly in the cross-hairs of A-League clubs.
Wilkshire gave high praise to his troops after their latest performance and is adamant they are determined to keep their foot of the gas.
"Winning is a habit and that's what we want to keep doing," Wilkshire said.
"We are all motivated to win, to perform and entertain.

"We try not to get ahead of ourselves and look at other things. We need to keep going week by week and day by day and just take it as it comes."
Wollongong are preparing for another testing few weeks in the top flight, with difficult matches against title hopefuls Rockdale City Suns and Marconi Stallions over the next fortnight.
They host the Suns at WIN Stadium this Saturday night.
Rockdale have won four consecutive matches heading into the clash to move into fourth position on the ladder.
