Tomorrow marks one year since the now infamous Captain Underpants dance scandal that eventually cost Kiama MP Matt Brown his position as Police Minister. It was during last year's post State Budget drinks that a boozy Mr Brown allegedly stripped down to his underpants and danced on a leather couch in his office.Mr Brown last year admitted to behaviour not befitting a minister but strongly denied other allegations that he simulated a sex act on Wollongong MP Noreen Hay.This year NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal has axed post Budget drinks, according to the The Sydney Morning Herald's The Diary.

  • State Budget: Unanderra station to get liftsWhile the State Government blames the decision on the deficit, which is tipped to be $1.5 billion in 2008-09, there have been suggestions last year's post-Budget party shenanigans are to blame.A spokesman for the NSW Premier Nathan Rees denied any directives on party behaviour had been issued to party members for this year's Budget, only that "I think the expectation is that commonsense will prevail".Mr Brown did not return The Diary's phone calls asking about his post-Budget celebration plans, which are expected to be a relatively sombre, and sober, affair this year.
