An Australian man will join thousands of Michael Jackson fans at a memorial service for the pop star after securing a prized ticket to the event in Los Angeles.About 1.6 million people entered an online lottery hoping to attend the memorial at the Staples Centre which will take place at 3am AEST on Wednesday.One of those lucky enough to score a ticket was Paul Black, an Australian singer songwriter, who said he had been a life long fan of Jackson.

  • Pay tribute to Michael Jackson "I'm very lucky, I know there's a lot of people who wanted tickets and you know I've always been a fan so I was thinking I'd love to get into this and just sort of be part of the whole experience," he told the Nine Network."I'm really glad that I can be one of them and there's a lot of Australian fans back home that I'll be carrying the torch for them.'' Jackson will be buried at LA's Forest Lawn Cemetery just ahead of the public ceremony, which is expected to draw giants from the entertainment world. Among those rumoured to be performing a tribute to the 50-year-old are Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake and Stevie Wonder.A US cinema network is preparing to broadcast the memorial service on its live digital network to theatres across the US.In Australia, the memorial service is expected to be broadcast on the big screen at Federation Square in Melbourne's CBD.
