The big swell is expected to continue, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning of dangerous surf conditions over the coming days.
A front crossing the state will deepen into a low pressure system off the southern half of the coast later on Monday.
A trough associated with the low is expected to generate winds up to 90km/h later on Monday and through Tuesday.
Heavy surf, over five metres in parts, could cause damage and erosion as the system moves north.
South facing beaches will be the most affected.
The temperature is expected to drop to 15 degrees on Tuesday with a high likelihood of rain late on Monday and into Tuesday and Wednesday.
