For those who chased luderick, there has been some excellent fish getting around the harbours and sheltered rocky headlands with plenty of the bigger sized 'bronze brawlers' about.
Weed has been plentiful of late but now with the monstrous seas it will be a bit on the lean side for a week or two but don't despair because the artificial flies have been working just as good if not better than the real stuff.
If you can brave the cold and rain, you should easily get your bag of fish no problems, with the best areas that were 'hot to trot' included inside the sheltered harbours at Bellambi, Wollongong and Kiama.
With the June long weekend upon us and a pretty good forecast for the weekend weather, we should see plenty of boats get out for the first time in a couple of weeks and the anticipation is high for a good snapper bite after the seas of this week.
A lot of shop regulars are going to try in close for the first couple of hours as there will be ample supplies of food and bait about from the swell and also the creeks bursting from the good bit of rain we have experienced.
Beaches also should fish really well today and over the weekend as the sea abates and new gutters are formed.
Plenty of keen anglers will be out chasing mulloway after this bump as well as those chasing the reds off the rocks as well.
There will be plenty of drummer and bream on offer as well after this big stir up and hopefully everyone has a safe and happy long weekend and don't forget Luke will open at 5am every day.

Last chance to catch Snowy River trout
NSW trout season close will take effect from midnight on Monday when all flowing waters in NSW will be closed.
Multiple reports of snow showers and solid rain up in the Snowy Mountain areas should see an influx of brown trout moving up the alpine rivers and streams as part of their annual spawn run.
If you're keen to brave what will likely be cold and damp conditions, this could be a golden opportunity to target a trophy trout, but bear in mind the close on Monday night until the October long weekend.
The closure allows brown, rainbow and brook trout to breed during their annual spawning run, while also permitting trout fishers to fish both the June and October long weekends.
DPI Fisheries, in conjunction with local acclimatisation societies, has been stocking trout dams and rivers in NSW for many years and about 2.54 million trout and salmon were stocked across NSW during the 2018/19 stocking season and also this stocking complements natural recruitment.
Fishing in trout dams during the closed season is permitted, however anglers are reminded that they are required to have a current NSW recreational fishing licence receipt on them at all times while fishing.

Please be aware of the sudden changes in weather conditions up there that hit without warning, stay on the main tracks and fish with a buddy if you want to go high country hiking.
Events for love of the game
Fishing club grants are available for "Gone Fishing Day" to be held this year on October 20.
NSW DPI will be running a host of free community events in six locations across NSW to celebrate our love of fishing and encourage everyone to get out on the water.
Recreational fishing clubs, organisations and community groups are invited to apply for grants to help run community fishing events and activities in their own local area on the NSW Gone Fishing Day.

Law enforcement
A specifically formed DPI/Fisheries enforcement squad caught more than 10 offenders across NSW, both coastal and inland for alleged illegal fishing offences.
Following a series of covert and overt operations by from the elite Statewide Operation and Investigations Unit (SOIG).
