Centre for Road Safety statistics from 2013-17 show 12 crashes in and around the hairpin, once known to locals as the "devil's elbow"
That equates to 28 per cent of the crashes on the entire length of Bulli Pass.

In total there have been 42 crashes on the pass in that period.
Most of the hairpin accidents appear to have involved vehicles travelling downhill, suggesting speed may have been a factor.
Nowhere else on the pass is there such a high concentration of crashes.
While there were no fatalities in this period, four of the 12 crashes saw a driver or passenger in the vehicle suffer a serious injury.
