The action on Friday being led by the National Union of Students (NUS) will see thousands of students walk out of university and take to the streets in major cities across the country..
NUS is protesting for 100 per cent renewables by 2030, an end to new coal and gas projects, to stop the Adani Carmichael mine, and to fight for a just transition to sustainable jobs in a green economy.
"Students are angry at this Liberal government who have failed to take urgent action on climate change," NUS president Desiree Cai said.
"We'll have thousands of students protesting in major cities to fight to those who deny the existence of the climate crisis, and demand action from the government."
The Wollongong event is at the UOW Duckpond lawn from 12pm.
Community members are welcome to attend.
Similar demonstrations will be held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
