IRT Foundation manager Toby Dawson has been nominated for the Third Sector Awards in the 'Social Entrepreneur of the Year' category.
The Third Sector Awards aim to recognise best not-for-profit practice.
The awards are run by the Third Sector Australia agency, in partnership with the Centre for Social Impact.
Mr Dawson has been named as a finalist, primarily in recognition for his work with the IRT Foundation.
The IRT Foundation, an extension of the Illawarra-based seniors living provider, aims to tackle homelessness, ageism and social isolation.
"I'm pretty humbled as it's an amazing lineup of people from across the country," Mr Dawson told the Mercury.
"I'm excited about the opportunity that this award might bring for us to raise the profile of the issues being faced by vulnerable older Australians."
The award's finalists are judged on their social impact, outcomes, collaboration and leadership.
The competition has now reached the popular vote stage. The public has until August 27 to cast a vote here.
Winners will be announced on September 24.
