A warrant was issued for the arrest of 19-year-old Isiah Campbell late last month after he failed to turn up to Wollongong District Court to face sentencing proceedings.
Campbell had been on conditional bail despite pleading guilty to carrying out the terrifying armed home invasion a week before Christmas last year.
Police say Campbell in known to frequent the Campbelltown, Eastern Suburbs and Redfern areas.
They have warned the public not to approach Campbell but to immediately call triple zero if they see him.
Meanwhile, an alarming set of agreed facts tendered in court at the time of Campbell's plea reveal why the public should remain at arm's length if they spot Campbell.
The then-18-year-old quietly entered the family's two-storey home just after 1.30am on December 18, removed his shoes at the back door, and made his way directly to the kitchen where he grabbed a 20cm knife from the bench.
He then began moving from room to room, picking up items of value as he went and placing them in a pile next to his shoes.
Campbell made his way into the master bedroom and brandished the knife at a couple in bed, prompting the woman to scream.
The couple's daughters, one an adult, the other aged nine, were sleeping in another bedroom and overheard their mother's yell and Campbell's demands for passwords, electronics and money.
The eldest daughter got up, picked up the little girl and put her in a cupboard, telling her "whatever happens, you've got to stay in the cupboard and not move".
The adult daughter then spent 20 minutes on the phone with a triple zero operator, describing what she was hearing.
One of two constables who arrived at the house a short time later saw Campbell walking the mother out of one of the rooms at knife-point. He said Campbell looked directly at him at the time, providing him with a "clear and unrestricted" view of the teenager's face.
Campbell immediately fled the scene - minus his shoes, and could be seen throwing the family's property away as he ran down the road. He was found hiding inside a car a few houses away a short time later.
Campbell was arrested, charged and initially remanded in custody but was then granted bail in the NSW Supreme Court.
Campbell pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated entering of a dwelling and armed robbery in Wollongong Local Court in June.
