The Hawks will head south on November 3, the match against the Bullets a full seven days after their preceding home clash with Perth in Wollongong.

The earlier date this season should avoid a repeat of the oppressive 43-degree conditions at AIS Arena - without air conditioning - in which the Hawks took on Cairns on Australia Day this year.

It continues a funding agreement with the ACT Government as the club looks to expand it's reach into regional areas.

"We worked very closely with Basketball ACT and the Canberra Capitals as well as developed a strong partnership with the ACT Government last season," Hawks general manager Mat Campbell said.

"We hope to continue building on these relationships to ensure we are able to return to Canberra in the future.

"There is a huge basketball following in Canberra and one of the main objectives for the Hawks is to ensure we keep building and expanding our reach."

ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry said it was a win for sports fans in the capital.

"This is great news for Basketball ACT and Canberra's passionate basketball supporters," Minister Berry said.

"Basketball has a proud history in our community, with thousands of players across all levels and a record of having produced great athletes and teams - from the elite end such as the former Canberra Cannons and the champion UC Capitals, through to the junior development pathway, our great local clubs or the Aussie hoopers that are just starting out on their journey.

"Teams like the Illawarra Hawks encourage participation and inspire young players to see the possibilities of pursuing a professional career in basketball and other sports."

Tickets for the game go on sale at 10am on Wednesday.
