Les Legradi beat Col Kenning 3/2, Graham Leake overcame Brett Dowd 5/4, Grant Meredith lost to Gary Hutchison 2-down, Darren Sparks fell to Paul Wilson 1-down, Tom Persson defeated Graeme Moore 4/2, Craig Thompson won Peter Gassman 4/2, Michael Ashelford outlasted Wayne Bennett 3/1 and Manny Serrano held off Steve Starr 3/2.
Athlete of the year
Ethan Harvey from Kiama golf club was named the Illawarra Academy of Sport's golf athlete of the year for 2019. After winning the Vic Burrows Award in 2018, Ethan continued his hard work with his commitment to training leading to improved development and success.
Harvey's results included winning the Junior Open Series and Mollymook Junior Open, a second at the Under 16 Boys NSW Junior Championships and Jack Newton Illawarra Junior Masters and third in the Wollongong Club Championship and Wollongong Open.
He also earned state development squad and NSW Honours squad selection.
Andrew Brown who plays at Concord and Wollongong golf clubs is the Vic Burrows scholarship recipient for 2019.
Brown tied for 1st at the NSW All Schools and was selected as one of only four golfers to represent NSW at the Australian School 15 Years and Under Championships.
Pro round-up
Travis Smyth shot rounds of 72, 67, 72 and 67 to finish tied 21st at 10-under in the Classic Golf and Country Club International Championship in India.
Smyth heads to South Korea to contest this week's Shinhan Donghae Open.
Local professionals Jordan Zunic, Jack Kessell, and Lincoln Tighe have returned some promising results in the Ladbrokes Pro-Am series over the past week.
Zunic finished in the top 10 in three of the four events he contested. A third place at Hawks Nest after rounds of 67,71 was followed by a second place finish at the Lake Macquarie Pro-Am held at Belmont.
Zunic's rounds of 66 and 70 saw him finish one behind the winner.
Kessell finished in a tie for 8th place at Hawks Nest after scores of 70 and 72, with Tighe finishing tied 19th with 69 and 77.
