Heavily armed tactical police swooped on a home in Myrtle Way just before 5.30pm and Dendulk gave himself up an hour later, walking from the single-storey house with his hands on his head.
Police claim the siege was preempted by a domestic incident at the house earlier that morning, in which Dendulk allegedly pushed his partner to the ground during an argument then allegedly headbutted her in the jaw when she tried to get up.
Police said the woman attended Shellharbour Hospital with "significant facial injuries", prompting officers to go to the Myrtle Way home about 12.45pm.
"Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District interacted briefly with a 37-year-old man who allegedly threatened them before fleeing by foot," police said in a statement released on Monday morning.
"Police made numerous attempts to locate the man, before receiving information that he had returned to the premises about 2.45pm."
It will be alleged Dendulk again threatened the officers when they returned to the property before barricading himself inside the home and refusing to come out.
Police shut down the surrounding streets and set up a command post in nearby Ivy Place as they began negotiating with Dendulk.
At the height of the siege, more than a dozen police cars and scores of officers were on the scene, while residents were being warned to stay indoors and the public urged to avoid the area.
Dendulk surrendered without incident just after 6.30pm.
He was put in the back of a police paddy wagon, where he began jumping around and rocking the vehicle.
He was driven to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, two counts of intimidating police and breaching a firearms prohibition order.
It will be alleged police discovered various firearm parts during a subsequent search of the home.
Dendulk was remanded in custody overnight and fronted Wollongong Local Court on Monday morning where he did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
The case was adjourned for a week.
