With the furore over the future of the the greyhound races set to continue, the Dapto Agricultural and Horticultural Society said it had been forced to cancel its popular weekly markets.
The Sunday markets usually attracts about 2000 people, they said, while the dog races attracts 50 spectators.
"This disruption has been brought about by the behaviour of Greyhound Racing NSW and its refusal to deal with us in a reasonable way," the Society said, in a release issued by crisis management firm Wilkinson Butler.
"This included demanding an unreasonable three-year arrangement, and a failure to come and talk to us to understand the situation, and allowing the [greyhound racing] registration to expire on October 31."
The racing licence was extended by GRNSW at the last minute on Thursday, and the Supreme Court issued an order to allow races to go ahead. But there remains no agreement over whether the races will continue.
Pledging to continue to fight when the case returns to the Supreme Court on Monday, the Society said its land was " for the benefit of the community as a whole, not just greyhound racing."
"The A&H Society commenced in 1857, prior to racing, which commenced in 1937," it said. "Our mission is 'to enrich our community' and our vision is 'to provide a dynamic community space which facilitates social belonging and engagement'."
"The Society will not be sold off, it has exciting plans for the future, which include parkland and playgrounds, indoor and outdoor recreational space to facilitate activities such as Kids Flip Out, Play Maze, Dance studios etc.
"We continue to be the home of the Dapto Rugby League Football Club, Pigeon, Poultry and Dog clubs, Illawarra Cancer Carers, Learning Links Bingo, Dapto Markets... along with numerous other stakeholders."
