Transport for NSW is investigating ways to improve traffic flow along the Princes Highway in Bulli, and Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Thirroul.
One option that is in the mix is the removal of on-street parking outside the businesses in the Bulli CBD, which contributes to through traffic banking up at busy times.
"Clearways can help manage congestion by allowing motorists to use all available lanes during peak periods," according to a Transport for NSW statement.
"They could form part of a broader solution for Bulli and Thirroul."
Community consultations as part of the investigations had targeted the CBD as an area of concern for motorists with plenty of survey respondents calling for the end of on-street parking.
