The Shellharbour golfer carded rounds of a 66, 68, 69 and 70 for a -7, total of 273.
"I am happy with the way I hung in there over the weekend," Smyth, 25, said.
"I wasn't playing too bad, but off the tee I kept finding the rough which made it impossible to control. To go one under over the weekend and find so few fairways was pretty good in the end."
Fellow Australian Wade Ormsby took out the championship with a commanding -17 total.
Next week, Smyth tees off at the US$1million SMBC Singapore Open, an event where he finished T24 last year.
