Initially emergency services thought a ambulance helicopter would be required to assist but road paramedics ended up transporting the cyclist to hospital in a stable condition.
A spokesman said the man had a short loss of consciousness and multiple lacerations and abrasions to his face and limbs.
The man aged in his 40s reportedly came off a mountain bike at the Camp Gully Road end of the Hacking River Firetrail.
Ambulance officials received the call about 12.15pm, with three crews and a helicopter called.
Officials say the bike snapped and landed on the man's head.
A four-wheel drive was required to access the scene.
