A 42-year-old Wollongong man appeared in court on Saturday faced with multiple charges relating to the distribution of child pornography.

Following a two-month investigation, detectives from Strike Force Trawler arrested Abhijeet Kulkarni at his unit in Wollongong about noon on Friday.
Shortly after the arrest, a search warrant was executed at his home where detectives seized electronic storage devices.
The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with 13 offences including using a carriage device to transmit/publish/promote child pornography (x5), use carriage service to solicit child pornography (x6), use carriage service to menace/harass/offend and use child under 14 years to make child abuse material.
He did not apply for bail when he appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Saturday.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the CEIU into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
