While many volunteers tackled the rubbish around the harbour edge, freedivers and scuba divers spent hours scouring the harbour floor, dredging up cans, bottles and even shopping trolleys, chairs and trampolines from underwater.
On land, Mangerton's Amanda and Nathan Mcinnes and their three boys Thomas, 4, Hamish, 2 and Reuben, six months, were among the many families who joined the effort.
"We want the boys to know to do the right thing, and be a part of the community," Mr Mcinnes said.
"In the current climate, kids are getting more and more aware of the environment at an early age.
"Thomas has been aware of the bushfires and the impact on the animals and environment.
"So we hope this influences other people to do this sort of thing everyday - and also not to throw their rubbish out in the first place."
