FSC announced on Saturday morning that the Frat Cup final, scheduled for Sunday between Wollongong United and Coniston at Memorial Park, had been postponed.
It means fans will have to wait a little longer to find out if United will their third Cup trophy in four years, or Coniston can secure its first pre-season title since 2003.
FSC chief executive officer Ann-Marie Balliana said it was a "socially responsible" decision to postpone the game.
"It is disappointing for the clubs involved," she said.
"But there's a potential that someone could be exposed to someone else... we thought it was best to err on the side of caution.
"For the sake of rescheduling the game until the end of the week or a couple of weeks, it was a decision that was socially responsible and something that we discussed and consulted with all stakeholders including Football NSW before we made a decision."
It is unclear at this stage whether FSC's regular season competitions, such as the Illawarra Premier League, will be postponed. The IPL is set to kick off on March 21.
"The advice we got yesterday was FFA and Football NSW was that games are to go ahead as planned," Balliana said.
"But within this current environment, things are moving daily so all we can do is consult with our governing bodies, be on top of the information that they're issuing and then determine how that applies to our local competitions."
