While the action finished weeks ago for Illawarra Hawks fans, the NBL championship drew to a close on Tuesday due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
The NBL has announced they will cancel the remaining grand final games between Sydney Kings and Perth Wildcats.
The last two finals were played behind closed doors to the general public. Game four was scheduled to be played on Friday at RAC Arena.
The NBL stated that Kings' management had indicated that they did not wish to finish the series. The NBL also consulted with the Australian Basketball Players' Association before making the decision.
The grand final series is cancelled with defending champions Perth holding a 2-1 lead. The NBL will consider the outcome of the championship over the next 48 hours.
NBL executive chairman Larry Kestelman said the announcement was made in "what are extraordinary times for everyone".
"We are understanding of not just the players' health and well being but also their desire to be with their families, especially given so many of them have family overseas," he said.
"We acknowledge both teams for what has been a fantastic series and season. Sydney was the only team to have gone through an entire NBL season on top of the ladder and Perth was leading the grand final series."
Kestelman said it had been an incredible season for the NBL, with record attendances and "world class basketball" played.
"We thank all of our teams, officials, staff, partners and fans for their outstanding support and we look forward to returning even bigger and better in 2020-21," he said.
"We wish everyone around Australia and around the world all the very best and to stay safe during these challenging times."
