Grassroots games and training sessions remain suspended for the foreseen future across Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Women's National Premier League One competition was postponed after two rounds. However, the Stingrays had yet to take the field due to too many players remaining under W-League contracts. That list included three new recruits, Canberra United's Olivia Price, Lauren Keir and Sally James.
Stingrays veteran Halloway said she expected that trio to make an impact.
"I think we did a good amount of off season recruiting," the midfielder said.
"We're not out of the chance of getting some football this year. But if it doesn't eventuate this year, I'm sure those same group of girls will come back next year. It looks like a team that we could really go all the way with."
Halloway remains at her Wollongong home as she recovers from ACL in her right knee suffered during a Western Sydney Wanderers training session January. The Wanderers captain said her knee was "coming along well" post operation.
"I've got some muscle back so it's not quite as deficient as when I first had it done," Halloway said.
"I'm positive that it's going to come back well."
