Talk about social distancing done right! There were signs of Australia easing the reins on restrictions everywhere over the weekend.
In Wollongong the Illawarra Mercury called it their first weekend of cautious freedom; in Newcastle the Sunday morning sunshine enticed hundreds out of hibernation for the first time in months, and in Ballarat there were parks and gardens just waiting to be discovered.
In Bendigo, well, they just celebrated wonderful weather - and who can blame them. Elsewhere in Victoria, it seems the lure of the Twelve Apostles was too great for some and they were hit in the hip pocket for not abiding by the rules.
And while the weekend was much appreciated, so too will Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews' announcement this morning of a $2.7 billion Building Works construction blitz.
It means hundreds of projects across Victoria will be fast tracked as part of a state government package to get thousands of people back to work.
