Curious kids and their parents were once again able to stare at many wonderful creatures, big and small.
While the animals at the park were blissfully unaware of the COVID-19 crisis that forced their home to close, the keepers remained on deck to care for them and to ensure the park was ready to reopen as soon as possible.
Symbio's managing director Matt Radnidge said he was pleased to have a "normal" day at the park again.
"With only eight days notice from the state government, we were ready to open," he said.
"The keepers kept the park in good order.
"The visitors who came through were sensible and did not try to bend the rules.
"It was a nice, relaxing day for people who got outside and enjoyed the fresh air."
Unfortunately, one of the main drawcards of the park, up close and personal encounters with the animals, were unable to recommence as were keeper talks given they draw large crowds.
"The animal encounters and talks are an important part of what we do," Mr Radnidge said.
"However, for now we will err on the side of caution.
"Even though the keepers can't do specific presentations, our team will still be active in the park and enclosures.
"They are always willing to engage with the public and answer any questions."
The park's animals range from koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, wombats and dingoes to reptiles and tigers, red pandas, cheetahs, ring-tailed lemurs, meerkats and monkeys.
Mr Radnidge hopes the long weekend is busy and is glad to have the week to ensure social distancing and hygiene procedures work efficiently.
"The measures include advanced cleaning procedures with deep sanitation in high-touch places; government approved signage around the park; distance markers and sneeze guards in the retail and hospitality sections," he said.
"We are also ensuring our staff remain socially distant; there are COVID specific first-aid kits and new sign in procedures.
"We have a comprehensive set of measures in place.
"People can read all the information on our website and social media so they can come prepared. They can also pre-book tickets.
"We hope everyone abides by the rules and has an enjoyable day when they come to the park."
