After losing in the opening round, the Sharks have won five of their last six games - including the past four straight - to rise up the Women's Division One ladder.
Woonona sit in fourth spot, however, they are only two competition points behind the top sides University, Albion Park and Thirroul.
The Sharks have defeated two of those teams so far this season. While they lost 3-0 to Thirroul, Woonona beat Albion Park by 3-2 in early August and secured an impressive 2-1 victory over Uni on Sunday at Ocean Park.
Two goals in the opening 35 minutes set up the win. Ainsley Hawkes found the back of the net in the 10th minute and the Sharks then took a 2-0 lead through Kyah Humphrey.
Uni's Zoe Kalos managed a consolation goal late in the second half, but the Sharks ran out with the victory.
In Sunday's other game, Thirroul clinched a 4-3 win over Wollongong United at Thomas Gibson Park.
