A Woonona High School student was taken to hospital after an accident in the playground on Thursday.

In an email to parents and carers, Woonona High principal Caroline David said the incident happened at the playground during lunchtime.
"The incident was an accident in which a child sustained minor injuries, which are being treated accordingly. The parents/carers of the students involved have been contacted," she said.
"The health, safety and wellbeing of students is our highest priority and the situation is under control and being dealt with.
"Onsite learning is continuing uninterrupted this afternoon."
An ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called to the school at 1.45pm.
They treated a 14-year-old boy for an injury to his abdomen. He has been transported to Wollongong Hospital.
Officers from Wollongong Police District also attended Woonona High School.
"A teenage boy has been taken to hospital with injuries to his abdomen," a police spokeswoman said
"There is nothing to suggest there is an immediate threat to anyone at the school.
"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and no further information is available at this time.".
The Department of Education simply said "a student was injured today at Woonona High School. Police are investigating the incident".
