What was once known as the "Crini Pub" has been polished into a gem, losing the dank dive feeling of yesteryear, and rebranded as the Five Islands Hotel.
The dingy yellow facade has been traded for charcoal, the sticky floor now herringbone tiles and polished floorboards.
The complete makeover came after the Oscars Hotel group added the 64-year-old venue to their stable of 29 pubs, which already included the Towradgi Beach Hotel and the Novotel North Beach.
In March 2017, property sales data revealed the venue was sold for a mere $1.1 million.
Previous patrons of the pub will note giant TV screens in the sports bar area, alfresco pool tables (yes, they're outside on the patio), and a large dining hall with plenty of space to socially distance.
The renovation also included a new entrance, new fixtures and colour scheme.
The car park has also been levelled to increase capacity from a handful of vehicles to more than 50, and the accommodation also revamped.
It's no secret the pub - also known ad the Cringila Village Inn or South Pacific Hotel - has enjoyed a colourful past.
But so did The Glasshouse which was polished into Mr Crown, and the Illawarra Hotel which reopened in June after extensive renovations.
The pub was last to undergo major renovations under the previous licensee Robert Grisilo during the mid-2000s.
At the time, the Mercury reported Mr Grisilo injected close to $1 million into the pub to ensure "the cafe latte set was counted among the clientele".
The Mercury contacted Oscars Group and the publican for comment, but both declined.
