Normally AGM's can be rather unexciting to the point of boring. Athletics Wollongong AGM's in times past at least would bring fair sized crowds who were then suitable rewarded for their attendance with a satisfying feast. Unfortunately the COVID curse has dampened proceeding considerably so this year's AGM was a far cry from its predecessors.

However in no way did the size of the meeting diminish the huge effort the executive and the organising committee had put into the successful running of the club's last season.
Athletics Wollongong prides itself in being able to cater to all athletic levels and abilities. Athlete's ages range from 12 years to 80 plus years to be registered with ANSW. We have international reps both para and able bodied, community based athletes more interested in fitness, starting level able bodied and para athletes across all athletics disciplines through running , jumping and throwing.
A lot of our juniors play other sports and use athletics to build up their speed and fitness.
Competitions can be either taken seriously or socially. All competitors gain something from every meet they attend.
All this competition cannot occur unless there is a well oiled management machine which allows the smooth conduct of local competition and facilitates pathways for those seeking higher achievement.
Our club is hugely proud of the efforts on the management committee and sincerely thanks them for the unselfish use of their time effort and financial resources in providing the best of services for the competitors. Many have put their hand up again to serve for another season. A special thanks goes to those retiring from their positions.
Once again we are fortunate to have Michael McClellend take on the Presidential mantle. His capacity to solve issues calmly and quickly is an enormous asset in all aspects of club business.

Our first club night will be Wednesday, October 7 at 5.30pm. We would love to see the following, former and continuing members and new potential member over the age of 10 regardless of your ability.
If you are a junior athlete registered with one of the Little Athletics Clubs around the greater Wollongong area and are in the age categories from Under 12 to Under 17 and have to register with an Athletics NSW club, of which we are one, you are also welcome to come along at that time and have a chat with folk there to get some type of guidance.
A reminder to continuing and potential members, online registration for ANSW membership open on September 28. Good luck.
