As part of a package of works worth almost $1 million, the shoulder will be widened on both sides of the road.
The centre line will also be widened and audio tactile line marking installed and safety barriers will be added to the inside edge of the curve.
"Safety improvements will be made to both sides of the road between the bottom hairpin bend on Bulli Pass and Bangalow Road, improving safety by reducing the severity and incidence of head on and run off road crashes," a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
"This stretch of road has a poor crash history and the planned work will help reduce crashes by providing more room for correction and greater separation between vehicles traveling on opposite sides of the road."
Work will start on November 1 and take about six weeks.
The road will be open while work is carried out but there will be single lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit in place.
Night work will take place on November 1-4, between 7pm and 5am.
From November 9, work will take place during weekdays between 7am and 5pm for about four weeks with the final week of work occurring from 7pm to 5am.
