With a host of talented juniors moving through the ranks, optimism is high that the Blacks have turned a corner after some lean years.
The side claimed a seven-wicket win over Corrimal on Saturday, with Kornberger confident success is not far away.
"This season is looking promising," the skipper said. "Training's been the best it's been in a while. The club's turned around and it should show in the next few years."
The Port Kembla bowling unit laid the foundation for Saturday's victory, youngster Andy Magennis taking three wickets as the Cougars were bowled out for 104.
Daniel Lee and Steve Sutherland ensured the Blacks would cruise home in just 17.3 overs.
With local junior and former Australian under 19 quick Jason Ralston coaching the side, Kornberger is confident the bowlers will continue to tear through opposition batting lineups.
"We've got a great culture at the club now. With Jason coaching us, he's been great in helping us out, leading training and giving the club more structure.
"Our young bowlers are learning lots off Jason. He's willing to teach anyone and help them out. I can't explain how much he's done for Port Kembla."
In Saturday's other matches, Wests claimed an upset win over Wollongong while University overcame a top-order stumble to defeat Helensburgh.
Keira were impressive in beating Dapto, with Northern Districts defeating Balgownie.
