Arpan Sharma, a 21-year-old Indian student and part-time cleaner, was allegedly the front-seat passenger in a silver Toyota Camry that ploughed into Libby and two friends outside Collegians club in Wollongong the night of November 7.
In a brief appearance at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, Sharma's lawyer sought the report from police "as a matter of urgency" so the defence could engage its own expert.
"We need the report so we can at least provide adequate advice to Mr Sharma," he said.
The court heard the report would likely take six weeks.
"The brief is not complete," prosecutor Tanya Pavlin told the court. "There's a number of witness statements outstanding but the significant hold-up is in relation to an expert report that's required, going directly to the intoxication or impairment."
The matter returns to court on March 3 when the alleged Camry driver, Jaskaran Singh, is also due to appear on related charges.
