Authorities are still trying to determine whether an Illawarra resident contracted the virus overseas or within hotel quarantine at Sofitel Wentworth, after returning a positive test when back in the community.
There were, however, two new cases recorded in returned travellers currently in quarantine.
Despite the rush around the Illawarra to get tested after several venues were named in a health alert, only 7,315 tests were conducted in that 24-hour period compared to 11,399 the day before.
"Extensive investigations remain ongoing into the source of infection for a returned overseas traveller who tested positive to COVID-19 after being released from hotel quarantine," said Dr Jeremy McAnulty on Tuesday.
"This case was first reported on Sunday evening and included in Monday's numbers."
NSW Health thanked the person for their co-operation in continuing to undertake a range of comprehensive COVID-19 testing as they investigate the source of infection.
It comes as NSW Health updated its advice on Tuesday, for people who attended two previously announced venues in the Northern Illawarra.
As reported Sunday, a confirmed case of COVID-19 visited the Headlands Hotel at Austinmer (February 2) and the Bulli Beach Cafe (February 6) after they were released from hotel quarantine and before they were notified of a positive result from their day-16 test.
Anyone who was in the beer garden of the Headlands Hotel or who dined inside at the Bulli Beach Café at the times listed below are now considered close contacts and should immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.
Close contact times:
- Headlands Hotel (Beer garden) Headland Avenue and Yuruga Street, Tuesday 2 February, 1pm - 3pm
- Bulli Beach Café (Those who dined in) 68 Trinity Row, Saturday 6 February, 1.30pm - 4pm
Anyone who was at the Headlands Hotel (in all areas other than the beer garden) and anyone who got takeaway from the Bulli Beach Café at the times listed below is now considered a casual contact who should monitor for symptoms.
If any symptoms develop, get tested immediately and self-isolate until you receive a negative result:
