The biggest Singles match of the year has been moved indoors following a traffic jam of Zone and representative events on Sundays over the past month.
Martin has only limited experience on the Warilla carpet but beat world champion Jeremy Henry a couple of years ago on the surface before narrowly missing out on a spot at the Australian Indoor Championships at Tweed Heads.
''I'm fine with the move,'' Martin said.
''I feel pretty confident on the surface.
"The good run at the Australian Indoor qualifying has given me confidence and it's not like I am playing an opponent who is really comfortable on the indoor.
''Lee (Stinson) I assume will be pretty much like me, so it will be fair for both of us.''
It is more than a month since the finalists played their back-to-back Zone Singles quarter-finals and semis, with both heading into the final in great touch.
Martin knocked out Fairy Meadow's Thomas Webb 31-21 in the quarters then beat Dave Tyrrell (Windang) 31-9, while Stinson had wins over Albion Park clubmates Brett Pieper 31-18 and Chris McLay 31-9 to reach the final.
''I've been happy with how I'm playing in Pennants and the Zone events, so I am looking forward to the final,'' Martin said.
Just two Towradgi bowlers have won the Zone 16 Open Singles in the almost 70 years of the Championship - with Bill Webber the club's inaugural champion in 1993 and Brian Harriott triumphant in 2005.
Towradgi's favourite son Tom Ellem won the Zone and State Singles double in 2001 playing for Oak Flats, plus won the Zone Singles again in 2003 at Oak Flats and in 2010 while playing for Dapto Citizens.
Martin rates winning the Queensland Premier League in the early 2000s as his career highlight but says in Singles a victory on Friday night would be special.
''It'd be right up there," he said.
The feeling around the club at Towradgi right now is very good and I'm getting a lot of support from my teammates.''
Martin says a driving force this season has been putting his name forward for selection in the Zone representative side. He played in a trial against Zone 5 last Sunday and along with Stinson are new additions for the Open side in their defence of their NSW Inter-Zone title at Tamworth next month.
Martin admitted his one previous appearance for Zone 16 in 2019 - shortly after joining Towradgi - wasn't memorable.
''I played my worst three games that time but now I have got another chance I'm keen to play my role in hopefully another successful campaign.''
Juniors take on state's best
Illawarra Zone 16 performed creditably while Mid-Western Zone 4 were champions at the Junior 7-A-Side Inter-Zone Championships at West Dubbo BC
The two-day event featured many of the top junior bowlers in NSW representing their Zone in Singles, Pairs and Fours.
Each Zone had seven representatives and competed in their own discipline for the title, with points accrued to determine the top junior Zone in NSW. Windang's Daniel Davies was Zone 16's top performer finishing fifth in Singles with an overall record of four wins and one loss.
Davies won his opening two sectional Singles games against Zone 4 and Zone 5 before a narrow loss to Zone 9 in round three meant he missed out on the semi-finals.
Promising Central Coast junior Bailey Meti won the Singles.
In Pairs, Dapto Citizens duo Ricci-Rose Hampton and Jackson Williams won two of their three sectional games, the loss against eventual winners Zone 5.
Zone 16 finished sixth overall in Pairs, while in the Fours competition, Zoe Davies (Windang) and Dapto Citizens trio Daniel Hunter, Hamish Hampton and Luke Bailey won their opening sectional game against Zone 4 Green before narrow losses to Zone 5 and Zone 9.
Illawarra trial teams triumph
Illawarra's Open and Seniors representative teams tuned up for their NSW Inter-Zone title defence next month with victories in a trial against Zone 5 at Picton last Sunday.
The trial featured four rinks each of an Open and Over 60s squad, with both Zone 16 teams winning three of their four games against Greater Western Sydney.
Illawarra was without its Open skips Aaron Teys and Corey Wedlock, and regular lead Chris Green, while Brad Rossiter was unavailable for the Seniors.
The Open team won 70-55 with Jayden Gebbie promoted to skip and his rink winning 15-14, while Lee Stinson, in his Illawarra debut, skipped his rink to a 22-7 victory.
Michael Stead and partners won 18-17, with Dennis Cooper's rink beaten 17-15.
In the Seniors, Robbie Warren skipped his team to an 18-16 win, with Rick Malley winning 24-10 and Gregg Stevens having a 23-9 victory.
Ted Clarke's rink lost 15-14 giving the Seniors a 79-50 overall win.
