The three-year-old broke his maiden in his first start for the Baker stable on Kembla Grange Classic Day, winning a race to the line with Godolphin's Stelvio.

This weekend, Vanderland will contest a 1200 metre class one, a race featuring multiple promising horses.

Lining up alongside the gelding will be highly fancied Snowden filly Global Queen, John Thompson's Eye See Things and Kim Waugh's Victorella. Robert and Luke Price will look to defend home turf with recent stable addition Yugosphere.

Vanderland is also entered in a 1300m race at Randwick on Sunday, however the current plan is to travel down to Kembla, with Baker confident the gelding can claim a second-straight victory at the track.

"He's had one start at Kembla and won well," Baker said. "He's had a bit of time off since, he looks well, I think he's a nice horse and should run well on Saturday.

"Brandon (Lerena) has been riding well, he had three winners over the weekend last week, so fingers crossed for Saturday.

"His work since his last race has been very good, I'm very happy with him. The 1200 should suit him, he won first-up over 1300, so 1200 should be good."

Vanderland has been placed in all six starts of his career, Baker buying the gelding after a pair of promising runs at Warwick Farm in January.

It's the third time the three-year-old has moved stables in his young career, with the trainer confident he can help the horse reach his potential.

"He's showed good ability. I expected him to be very competitive at this level, so far I'm pretty happy with him.

"The aim is to win in the city. Hopefully we'll get him to Sydney, we'll just play it by ear."

Robert and Luke Price entrant Yugosphere will represent the local trainers, with Luke confident the mare will improve on a tough first-up run earlier this month.

"After Pat Webster retired she was sent down to us," Price said. "I've got a lot of time for her. If she can get it right and has a bit of luck on Saturday, being a big filly, drawing out wide might not worry her.

"She needs a bit of speed in the race. With a couple of gear changes, it's a nice race for her. She'll have some galloping room and will be hitting the line well, no doubt about that."

Saturday's eight-race card features five maidens, with the day finishing with the 1500m Gallipoli Cup benchmark 68 and the 2000m Long Tan benchmark 64.
