The house was well alight, but one firefighter was able to enter through a window.
With smoke blanketing the home he felt through the darkness until he found the woman on the floor of the front bedroom.
After she was pulled from the home the woman was taken to Wollongong Hospital by ambulance in a critical condition.
She was later flown to Concord Hospital's burns unit.
Later that day she was taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital.
On Thursday afternoon a spokesperson for the hospital said the woman remained there in a critical condition.
