The alarm started just before 4pm on Thursday, and lasted a number of minutes before being turned off.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman confirmed the automatic fire alarm went off, causing people to evacuate.
His Boy Elroy owner Lachlan Stevens said GPT management told him the alarm was caused by workers working at soon to reopen Bavarian restaurant.
"I believe workers working and somehow tripped the alarm," he said.
"The alarm sounded in all commercial properties in the centre, including His Boy Elroy.
"Management did a good job handling the incident and it was all over within half an hour. It is back to normal now."
