The Aussies are set to arrive in Japan this weekend for a pre-Games camp. The 18-man squad includes Shellharbour's Joel King and Kiama-born talent Kye Rowles, along with the likes of Denis Genreau, Daniel Arzani, Mitch Duke and Ruon Togngyik.

The Olyroos will take on Egypt, Spain and Argentina in a tough group C, however, Arnold has backed his team to impress on the big stage.

"I look at the squad that we've got and I'm over the moon with it. We have had some goodwill from overseas-based clubs and we have some standout players who have done great in the A-League this year," the former Sydney FC coach said.

"For me, it's a great talented squad of an under-23 team that has eight Socceroos in it. As I've said before, my expectations are that we will shock the world."

King was selected after a standout A-League season for Sydney FC. He played 28 games at left back on his way to being named the league's Young Player of the Year.

Fellow defender Rowles also had an impressive campaign for Central Coast, playing 27 games on his way to winning the Mariners Medal and Players' Player awards.

The 23-year-old recently re-signed with the club for two more seasons.
