The 2021/22 season will begin four months after Melbourne City claimed the premiership double, beating Sydney FC 3-1 on grand final day on June 27.
However, one notable absentee from the sky blues' first day back at training last Monday was Joel King. The Shellharbour talent remains in quarantine after representing the Olyroos in Tokyo.
After he completes isolation, the A-League's reigning Young Player of the Year will then enjoy another short break before he starts pre-season training.
"(Sydney FC coach) Steve (Corica) has given me one week off, so I'll probably take the chance to chill out, see my family if I can and then get back into it," he said.
"The support from back home was great (in Tokyo), my cousins, grandparents and everyone watched everything. They've supported me a lot and I can't thank them enough for everything."
